Video Tutorial for Managed Strategies

Getting Started with Your Managed Strategy (Public Strategy Portfolio)

We have moved from supporting individual Trading Ideas to offering a comprehensive Portfolio solution to allow you enter not just a single idea, but a series of ideas built from within the Portfolio application. You can set your starting capital, the amount of shares traded, trade intraday or end-of-day, decide your own exits and even enter pre-emptive signals which trigger when certain prices hit.

The first step is to create a Public Strategy; this can be done from the Portfolio menu bar or from the "Get Started" splash screen which starts-up when the Portfolio application loads

Strategy Setup

1. Giving your strategy a Name
2. Assign a Currency
3. Set a Starting Capital
4. Define a Monthly Subscription cost for your strategy

The Cost per Trade is preset at $10 per trade and cannot be changed. Your Strategy can support signals created from an external source, either an Excel-based strategy or one using the MetaTrader platform. For your strategy to receive signals from one of these sources then you need to check 'Yes' to Accept External Signals. Managed Strategies , once created, can't be deleted without Contact us. This 'lock' is to prevent deletion of strategies which may have active Subscribers.

For every subscription payment sold, you - the Publisher, earn 50% of the revenue in a profit-share with Zignals. However, to receive this payment you need to have a Paypal account.

Create a Signal

With Managed Strategies, signals are created to generate positions in the portfolio. There are a number of options available to generate signals; trades can be entered during market hours, or set outside of market hours to generate on the next open. Conditional orders are also possible which trigger when prices are hit - working like a limit order with your broker.

During Market Hours
Enter real-time trades to buy or short stocks. Enter the stock, number of shares to trade, a brief reasoning ("Signal Info") Target or Stop. The Target and Stop information can be updated at any time. The price of the trade will refresh every 10 seconds. A Target and Stop is required for every order for it to be accepted.

Open Positions
Once your trade is in the market you can maintain it using a number of different order types. You can update target and stop prices to help conserve profits, tighten protection when the market moves against you, or take bigger advantage of a move in your favour. Simply select the stock from the list of open positions and edit the required target and/or stop data. A new signal will be delivered to your Subscribers by email.

You can also Exit a position completely, or take a partial return on your open positions. With a complete Exit you select the stock you wish to remove from your portfolio and create a signal. You can also add a brief comment to the signal prior to delivery. In a partial exit you set the number of shares held.

Outside Market Hours) Enter Trade on Next Market Open
In situations where the market is closed (or has just closed) you can set pre-market orders to enter Buy or Short trades on the next available open price (regular market hours). By setting an order using the "Outside Trading Hours" option you can preset a number of orders to trigger at the next open.
Order entry is as for a regular entry system.

Note, to switch from a long to a short or a short to a long position you need to exit the existing position before creating a new position.

Conditional Entry Signals
Orders can also be configured to trigger when a certain price point is reached. Conditional triggers also allow for preset stop and target prices which become active when the signal is hit. These can be updated or cancelled as needed (unless they triggered, in which case use the Update feature for Open positions)

Signal Delivery

When a signal is created and confirmed it will be sent via email in real-time to all of your active subscribers. Subscribers will also be able to view the Strategy Portfolio and see how it has performed.

Members who are PreVIEWing a strategy will receive a weekly summary email of delayed signals and will be able to see performance metrics like cash:equity, drawdown and annual returns, but will not be able to view the Portfolio holdings.

Strategy Payment

When you have accrued $100 in Strategy earnings a payment will be sent to you.
