How Does It Work?

We would like you to give our Alert service a workout by joining our beta registration. After joining it is only a matter of logging-in and getting stuck in.

Alert Tool page is split into two sections; the left hand side has the storage area for yourstock alerts, and on the right hand side can be found the menu options to create your alert.

To first set an alert it is necessary to pick a stock, or group of stocks on which you would like an alert to act on.

In the top, right-hand menu bar are two options – one of which can be chosen; you can select for an individual stock, or a list of stocks.

It’s possible to pre-define your own stock lists which can be saved to your profile, but pre-defined stock lists are also available.

Next is the option to 'Select Alert Group'. Six options are given:

  1. Fundamental (as it relates to company earnings or market capitalization)
  2. Intraday (stockalerts monitored over the course the trading day)
  3. Price (a broad range of price settings are given, in addition to moving averages)
  4. Volume (find where the major action is occurring in the markets)

Depending on the Alert Group, the number of available Alert Conditions in the drop down menu will vary. By selecting an Alert Group the type of Alert Conditions available will change automatically.

Some of the Alert Conditions require customisation; these will be marked as changeable parameters labelled ‘X’ and ‘Y’ in the description. To define these variables there are two entry boxes given directly below the Alert Condition drop-down menu; one for ‘X’ and the other for ‘Y’. Input the variables you desire and you will see the descriptive form of the alert appear in the Preview box below.

Once you are happy with the alert it can run. Save the alert to 'MyAlerts'. Registering also allows you to set delivery options.

New stockalerts will appear in the left hand workspace.

stockAlerts in the workspace window can be edited or deleted.

By clicking on the ‘Backtest’ tab it will be possible to assess performance of your alert for your stock over 30, 60 and 90 days as such conditions had occurred in the past.

If you need to start again when creating an alert the Clear All option resets the Alert Set-up to its default.
